![]() It's essential to approach oral surgery in the same manner that you would approach any other surgery. Begin by familiarizing yourself with post-operative instructions and then by following typical surgery preparations to avoid developing dental complications. Here are some of the steps that you should follow if you have an oral surgery scheduled. Discuss Your SurgeryWhen discussing dental procedures with our patients, we have noticed that many of them are not eager to talk or share with us. Though they tend to listen intently while being given a rundown of our operations, recovery time and anesthesia, many of them avoid asking questions which they believe might be silly. If you have an oral surgery coming up, it's essential to ask as many questions as you can, irrespective of whether you believe they are irrelevant or not. Don't leave any stone unturned. If you have a health condition and you have not yet discussed the situation with us, then make a point of discussing the issue with us before the surgery. Organize Transportation While this might seem to be a no brainer, it's extremely easy to underestimate the impact of dental surgery. If you have a family member who will be willing to take you home, then ensure they accompany you to our practice before the surgery. If you decide to use an uber or taxi service, then do not rush to order until we inform you that it's safe to leave. Eating, Smoking and Drinking RuleIf your scheduled oral surgery procedure is going to involve general aesthetics or intravenous, then it's essential to pay attention to the same pre-operative guidelines of any surgery. Don't eat or drink anything 12 hours before the surgery, including water. Other steps that you can take include dressing appropriately for the surgery and planning a post-operative diet. |
