Talk to Us if Something Hurts Instead of Trying to Deal with It on Your Own

Talk to Us if Something Hurts Instead of Trying to Deal with It on Your OwnIf your tooth hurts, there are a few things that you can do on your own to alleviate the discomfort. However, these are activities that should help with your pain temporarily, and you should always follow up with an appointment with our office.

Trying to deal with a toothache on your own will simply address the symptoms and will not identify the actual cause of the problem.

A Toothache Won't Go Away on its Own

Many people feel that they can wait out a toothache and that with time, it will simply go away on its own. This is a poor strategy, as toothaches won't go away on their own. Most toothaches are caused by some common conditions, including enamel erosion and cavities.

However, more serious issues like an abscess require immediate dental intervention. Even if the pain subsides for a while, it will eventually return, as the underlying cause has not been treated.

Why You Should Call Us if You Have a Toothache

While toothache home remedies may serve as temporary pain relief, to find a long-term solution, you need to visit us for the treatment that you require. Left untreated, a minor cavity can move into the nerve root where it is more difficult to treat. Instead of a simple filling, you may now need a root canal in order to get to the source of the problem.

Ultimately, treating a toothache at the first sign of a problem can also save you money. The faster that you get treatment, the less serious the problem will be. Waiting for weeks or months in the hopes the pain goes away on its own will only give the issue a chance to worsen.

The next time that something inside of your mouth hurts, give our office a call to set up an appointment.
