Where to Start When Making Dental GoalsYou know that your teeth and gums could use some work and that your dental health just hasn't been a priority in the past.

The good news is that it is never too late to make a change for the better. By establishing some relatively easy dental goals, you can enjoy improved dental health in no time.

Brushing Twice Per Day


Most people find it easy to brush once per day – in the morning. For some reason, it is harder to get that second session in at night. Perhaps you fall asleep without brushing or just have too much to do after work.

Brushing is essential for good oral health, and failure to brush before bed gives the bacteria on your teeth plenty of time to multiply and produce harmful acids. This is a good place to start when it comes to setting better oral health goals.

Flossing Daily


If you find it difficult to brush two times a day, you might also be challenged with flossing on a daily basis. A lot of people hate to floss. It is time consuming, and some people experience bleeding of the gums. Still, it is crucial in removing harmful bacteria and plaque from in between the teeth. Without removing plaque routinely, it may harden into tartar.

Visit Your Dentist


The American Dental Association recommends that you visit your dentist every three months for cleanings and checkups. If you have diabetes or another chronic illness, you may need to visit more frequently. These appointments are essential for preventive dental health and to keep your teeth and gums healthy.
