Excessive teeth grinding or clenching of the jaw can lead to serious problems in the mouth. When you do not take care of the problems that this causes or try to prevent bruxism with the proper treatment, a lot of problems can happen.

You do not want this to be the cause of tooth loss so it is extremely important to have bruxism treated as soon as you notice that you have it.

Complications Caused By Bruxism

When it comes to having bruxism, you want to make sure that a mouth guard is fitted inside the mouth to reduce the chances of having cracked or broken teeth because of the grinding that is happening.

When a cracked tooth happens, this can lead to further problems if the tooth becomes infected due to having the bacteria and build up in it. Bruxism is also a leading cause of tooth loss because the teeth break and then have to come out due to complications.

When the person gets a mouth guard to fix the issue, then they do not have to worry about the tooth loss and other problems that come from this complication. Bruxism can be treated, but the person has to know that they have the problem. Signs of having include a sore jaw, broken teeth that are also worn down and sensitivity in the teeth.
